Colour and Ideas

Another collaborative project that I thought might work well would be to make a colour stripe where I start then pass it round the group, each adding a colour until there are 175 stripes. I could try this with a random selection of colours and with a chosen limited range of colours from a specific decade or photograph.

Sue has lent me a pantone colour wheel which will be useful when it comes to identifying individual colours and looking at the appearance of different tones next to each other. It is also an attractive object in itself.

I like the gradual movement of colour, and it reminds me of the colour wheel and experiments we did in the first term this year - similar colours directly next to each other moving in one direction.

I experimented with old make-up (spanning from the 1970s to the present!) to see the different surfaces and colours I could work with, and created my own electrophoresis - like image using 175 pens, in a variety of colours. The result looks quite architectural, similar to grid - like drawings I did during the journeys project and could link in well with Ollie and Jacob's photos.
