Over the holidays I had hoped to look at the animals at Chester Zoo for some inspiration in terms of pattern and colour; unfortunately the snow and a leg injury prevented this, but I managed to look around Hull Aquarium instead. Colours are constantly arranging themselves in different combinations, however fleetingly, and there are a huge variety of shapes and surfaces to look at.
I was particularly attracted to the bright colours of these tropical fish, and grouped together they are particularly striking. They are also very playful which fits in well with our overall theme.

The contrasting stripes caught my attention here, and even the shape of this fish varies from thick to thin. The plants in the foreground and interesting as well, all at slightly different angles they seem to move even when they are still.

Grouped together these colourful fish were breathtaking, constantly moving and creating new colour combinations, but even individually they contain contrasting, bold colours: purple eyes, orange scales and yellow tails are certainly attention grabbing from a distance!
I will definitely focus on colour for Unit X, and try to find interesting ways to utilise it.
